A Web Browser is the computer program that is used to display web pages and interact with Internet websites.  Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) is the most widely used web browser at present and is used by 90% of Internet users.  Other web browsers are Mosaic, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera and Safari.

For web banking transactions, it is important to use a Web Browser such as Internet Explorer that supports 128 bit inscription.  This allows web banking transactions to be transmitted securely over the Internet using SSL (secure socket layer).  Because Web Browsers can be "hacked", it is also important to keep your Web Browser up-to-date when new web browser releases are made available.  For users of Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can confirm that you are using the most current version of the software by clicking "Help" in the header menu and then selecting "Check of Updates".

When you access a secured e-banking website and are about to enter your login and password, a small lock should appear in the task bar located at the bottom right hand side of the Internet Explorer Window.   If the lock does not appear, you should not continue.
